Bathrooms are one of the most significant rooms in your house because it’s a place where you begin and end your activity within the day. Even though your bathroom is small in terms of space, you can easily make it attractive and interesting through putting up unique designs, materials, and decor. Keen to know how? Read the rest of this post.
Observe cleanliness. This is the most basic and most important thing to remember. Regardless of the type and size of your bathroom, always keep it clean. Well, your house as a whole must be clean as well. Always.
Maximize the space. Though it is the smallest, there are numerous ways to make it look bigger. One of these is choosing the right accessories, perhaps a pedestal sink that will add floor space, or open shelves that will help maximize your storage space, or a huge mirror that will double the visual space in your bathroom. It also helps to remove unnecessary items especially those that are space consuming.
Play with colors. It is easier to experiment with various colors because of its size but make sure that the colors will complement your accessories and decorations. However, the best color choice would still be something that will make your half bathroom space look bigger.
Consider the cabinet and drawer space. It is your choice whether to put a cabinet and drawer inside your guest room. Supposing you want one, the first thing you need to do is to sort things out on what necessities you have to put inside the cabinet. This way, you’ll be able to choose a cabinet that is enough for your storage and space.
Avoid clutter. Since there are numerous decorations and accessories available in the market these days you might put all that you want which will then cause mess in this small room. Just remember to avoid clutter therefore, put only those things that are needed and matches the design of your bathroom.
Do you wonder why houses need windows? Apart from ventilation, windows provide a perfect means to bring the beauty of the outdoors into your home. They allow the sunlight to brighten the different parts of your house on gloomy days and the breeze to cool your summer nights. There are few considerations which you must make when choosing the right windows for your home. They are the following.
Define the purpose of your windows. Windows will be installed in the different parts of the house. Hence, their purposes will differ from one another. Wide windows, for example, are needed in the dark areas where you will need more natural light to set in. The pantry and the living room become beautiful and more useful when there’s enough natural light.
Take into account the exterior design of your house. Your windows must match the architectural and overall style of your house. They also serve as wonderful house accessories and so you must consider their color and materials well. Use a style guide for your window selection to avoid expensive mistakes.
Take into account the amount of ventilation you need. Ventilation involves the movement of fresh air inside your house. If your house is in great need for ventilation, you have to choose operable windows. These windows can be closed and opened when needed. Fixed windows, on the other hand, don’t allow so. Fixed windows are often installed in houses or buildings which are full air-conditioned. Health experts suggests that a house must have a combination of the two windows to ensure the well-being of the people living in it.
The market is now filled with wonderful plastic pieces of furniture and other items. Many people choose them over wood products because of their perceived durability and beauty. I’m quite biased towards wood because I like it more than anything else. Let me share some of my thoughts on this.
Every piece of wood is beautiful. Every piece of wood is nature’s unique creation. No two pieces are very much alike. They differ in color, fiber, structure, etc.
Wood is durable. Compared to plastic and other materials, wood delivers more strength in proportion to its weight.
Wood is renewable. There sustainable timberlands which are managed to provide for cities’ need for wood. Wood in these areas are renewed through reforestation.
Wood products don’t harm the environment. Wood has low impact on the environment compared to aluminum, concrete, plastics, steel and vinyl. The production of these materials involve the use of non-renewable resources like petroleum and other carbon-intensive resources.
Wood is biodegradable and recyclable. Wood products decompose. Hence, they naturally return to the environment. Plastic, on the other hand, are made of materials which don’t decompose. These materials can stay in landfills for thousands of years unchanged.
Wood products are reusable. A wooden table, for example, can be chopped and made into smaller wooden products when it gets out of style. The same can be done with a wooden door, chest and other items. This may be done with plastic but the process it involves might damage the environment.
Wood is a natural insulator. Wood insulates against heat and cold inside the house or any infrastructure. This allows you to save energy. Statistics show that wood is 400 times more effective than steel and 1800 times more effective than aluminum in terms of insulation.
Wondering why your house is always messy? This short outline might make you realize where your problem is coming from. Read up and learn what you can do to put a stop to them.
You keep a lot of paper. Paper comes in different forms – bills, books. coupons, flyers, magazines, newspaper, etc. Take the time to sort your mail on a regular basis – twice a week or weekly. This will keep paper from piling up. Don’t store old newspaper and magazines. Bring them to recycling center right away.
You don’t put things back to their proper places. Do you always things out of the cabinet and the shelves? Do you have the habit of putting them back to their original places after use? If you always leave things out where they landed, you’re in the serious business of creating mess in your house. Let this be your rule of thumb: I will put back everything to where I got them.
You don’t clean up on a regular basis. Cleaning up on a daily basis is beneficial because it will keep dirt and mess from piling up in your house. Spend at least half an hour daily to de-clutter messy areas of your house. If your work doesn’t allow you to spend a lot of time at home, spend your weekends doing some general cleaning.
Are you expecting an addition to the family? Yes? Welcome him or her with a cozy nursery filled fixtures and furniture built by your own hands. There’s nothing more rewarding than to see your little bundle of joy sleeping on the crib you made.
Apart from the crib, what else do you need to prepare for a perfect nursery? Read the rest of my post for some ideas.
Sleeping area. Here is where you position the crib. The crib can’t be empty. Fill it with an appropriate mattress, blankets and pillows that will make your little angel’s sleep very comfortable. You may want to install a lampshade beside the crib for night use. Just make sure that it won’t topple down easily.
Changing area. You will need to fill this area with cabinets, racks and a changing table. The latter is not necessary since you can change the baby
directly in the crib or on the floor. But it a changing table will come in handy for your wife who still can’t bend over after giving birth. You can store all your baby’s clothes and other stuff in the cabinets and racks.
Feeding area. This area doesn’t have to big. In fact, it’s enough that it can
hold a rocking chair and side table. Your wife can sit on the rocking chair while breastfeeding and lulling your baby to sleep. A side table will be good enough to hold the formula, water and other feeding paraphernalia you might need.
Many people choose concrete homes over wooden homes. These houses appear like security when natural disasters happen and so most people root for them. Because of this, they overlook the wonderful benefits of owning a wooden house. Keen to know about these benefits, read the rest of this post.
#1 Wood is a natural insulator. It isolates cold and heat effectively. This means it can save a significant amount of energy compared to stone, concrete or brick. Moreover, wood is a good noise absorber too. Hence, it is much peaceful to rest in a wooden house than in o concrete house.
#2 Wooden houses are quicker to build. Thus, you save more money on its construction. Although they are quicker to set up, you don’t have to worry about safety because its entire construction involves careful planning.
#3 Wooden houses also showcase architectural versatility. Modifications are easier to commence with wood than with concrete. Additions and changes to your lot size can be done in less time if your house is made of wood.
#4 Wooden houses are environment friendly. They are made from natural resources. Their construction doesn’t involve fossil fuels. Although their major materials come form trees in the forest, timber sources are renewable. Wooden houses also absorb and store atmospheric carbon dioxide. Hence, they reduce the rate of pollution that’s already out there.
To a carpenter dad like me, nothing beats the happiness of creating wooden for my kids and seeing my kids enjoy them. Creating wooden toys allows to show how important my kids are to me – that I will take the effort and time to create something that they will enjoy. It also allows me to take part in their personal development and well-being as wooden toys come with better and more benefits than their plastic counterparts.
Wooden toys encourage kids to be proactive. Your kids will need to be mentally and physically involved when playing with wooden toys. Kids will need to pull, push and turn them manually because they don’t have buttons to press. Wooden toys are safer for kids’ heath. Wooden toys lack toxic chemicals which are often seen in plastic toys. You don’t have to worry about your kids getting poisoned when playing with them. Wooden toys are not battery-operated too. Again, you don’t have about your kids swallowing hazardous batteries.
Wooden toys improve kids’ tactile experiences. Plastic toys are generally smooth. Meanwhile, wooden toys can exhibit different textures. Touching them allows kids to have a rich tactile experience.
Wooden toys can be used for generations. Wooden toys tend to last generations. Plastic toys can get brittle and outdated in time. This is contrary to the state of most wooden toys no matter how vintage-looking they are. They have longer lifespan especially when they’re made from quality wood. Repairs can be easily done with broken wooden toys than with plastic toys. You can repaint or them if you need to. This is something you cannot do with plastic toys.
